The Eastport Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing on August 24 at 6pm at the Port Authority, 141 Water St. All interested parties are encouraged to address the Data Center Ban and Voter Approval petitions currently before the board. The Planning Board is expected to make their recommendations on the petitions to the Eastport City Council on September 9.
The Data Center Ban is the first step to blocking DeepGreen’s undersea AI Data Center. The Voter Approval measure gives voters the right to approve or deny future hyperscale development, ensuring Data Centers cannot circumvent local bans by re-branding.
DeepGreen recently announced the Western Passage Data Center he plans to build in Passamaquoddy Bay is now called a “subsea infrastructure expansion project.”
We call on all Mainers to oppose DeepGreen’s Data Center, no matter what the name! Urge the Eastport Planning Board and Eastport City Council to adopt the Data Center Ban and Voter Approval measure before them!
